New Seats built and installed on Ruby Island
Some of those Community Projects include ……
Working bees - to assist elderly citizens each year.
ANZAC Day - following the Dawn Service down at the lake front each year, we provide a community breakfast in the Lake Wanaka Centre, beginning 7.20am.
Ruby Island - In 2023 we resourced Ruby Island with a large hardwood picnic table and a roof over the Gas BBQ.
In 2024 2 hardwood viewing seats were made and installed.
Community Defibulator 2021 - Was purchased and positioned on the lakeside external wall of the Upper Clutha Rugby Clubrooms at the Wanaka A & P Showgrounds.
Mou Waho Island Project - finished in 2003 - A $100,000 project for Mou Waho Island was completed by Wanaka Lions Club.
Thru successful Grant Applications and local fundraising - a wharf was erected, toilet installed, Gas BBQ, plantings and a walking track to the top of the Island.
This Island is now a highly recognised DOC maintained tourist attraction.
Annually the Lions Club maintains the Gas BBQ and provides gas.
First Covered Commmunity Swimming Pool for Wanaka 1992 - Wanaka Lions Club led the Wanaka Community in raising $520,000 for the Wanaka Community swimming pool in Plantation Road which was opened in 1992.
The Lions Club itself, contributed $176,000
Looking after the BBQ and its gas on Mou Wahu Island
